Dr.(Capt) K.Vivekanand, Academic Director

A graduate of T S Dufferin, the class of 1964, he is an academician to the core. He was at sea for 26 years, including 16 years in Command. He has been ashore, exclusively in Maritime Training for 30 years, during which time he was Director of AMET University for 12 years, and Pro Vice Chancellor of VELS University for 6 years in a tenure there of 10 years. He is one of the pioneers in the field of eLearning for maritime professionals in India and overseas. He has been an external examiner for Masters and Mates at MMD Chennai. He is a former member of the Executive Council at IMU.

Ajoy Chatterjee

Prof. Ajoy Chatterjee, Academic Director, Marine Engineering Studies

Holds Extra First Class Engineer Officer C o C (U.K). Maritime professional with over five years sailing experience as Chief Engineer Officer on ships followed by over 26 years in Maritime Safety Administration and 10 years as Principal and Head of a premier Maritime Training Institute. He was Principal Officer MMD Mumbai and Kolkata and Chief Surveyor with the Govt. of India and Chief Examiner of Engineers, D.G. Shipping for seven years. Presently retained as Expert Consultant and Lead IMSAS Auditor at International Maritime Organization. London. Author of book on ISM Auditing.

N. Ramani

Chief Engr. N. Ramani

Mr. Ramani is one of the key members with direct interface with the students. He addresses the academic queries related to Marine Engineering, by email, and conducts Live Q&A sessions for students who need additional assistance in clearing their doubts. Mr. Ramani, in his long career in shipping, held a wide range of responsibilities at the leadership level in technical functions at SCI.

Devadas

Capt. K. Devadas

A master mariner with more than 40 of years of experience in handling Technical and Commercial Management of large fleet including Bulk carriers, Oil tankers, Container & Offshore vessels. His role is to audit and update the practical/operational component of the STCW Modular courses conducted by ADU. He will be a part of the team handling the academic queries by email. Before joining ADU, he was the Director – Technical & Offshore Services at SCI.

murugayan

Chief Engr. D. Murugaiyan

A Chief Engineer with 4 decades of sailing experience in Chemical Tankers. He has sailed with the latest ships and is considered as an expert in Tanker operations. He has developed courses on Hazardous Material which are widely used by the sailors in the USA. He will be a part of the team handling the academic queries by the students undergoing Tanker courses.

Capt. Mazumdar

Capt. Mazumdar

Capt. Mazumdar has had a distinguished track record as a Master mariner, both with command responsibilities on board as well in shore based leadership roles. He is a specialist in Gas carrier. He spent 14 years in senior positions in managing Gas Carrier for leading shipping companies in India and in the Middle East. He is an alumnus of T.S. Rajendra.

Nandakumar

Chief Engr. V.M.Nandakumar

A Chief Engineer with long experience in Oil Tankers. His experience in all types of Oil Tankers including OBO vessels and VLCC using new technology and the latest engines from MAN- B&W, Sulzer, and Wartsila RT-Flex, will help students in deepening their knowledge about latest engines and their operation and maintenance on board.

Capt. Ganeshyam has had a very distinguished career as a master mariner. After 25 years of sailing, he served the Oil and Gas industry onshore in leadership positions. His passion for Maritime Training and Education made him switch over to academia and for more than a decade he is a guiding force in redefining the way the mariners are being trained in India.

Mr Subimal Chakraborty

As Adjunct Faculty, Mr. Subimal Chakraborty will help the ADU further developing the learning process. His inputs will add great value to the ADU’s interaction with students and the permanent faculty. He has had a long and distinguished career with the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, of which 8 years he served as Principal Officer at the MMD, in Chennai and Kolkata. Mr. Chakraborty is a graduate Mechanical Engineer, with Extra First Class Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency (Motor) from the Department of Trade, U.K.

Mr Alok Mitra

As Adjunct Faculty, Mr. Alok Mitra will be an important member of the quality audit team at the ADU and will supervise the customization process of specific courses at various levels. Besides, Mr. Mitra will share his expertise across topics, with the students as needed. He has had a distinguished career in academia and has helped a number of maritime training institutes in building their curriculum to match the IMO mandated education and training standards. Mr. Alok Mitra is a graduate Electrical Engineer with Extra First Class Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency from the Department of Trade, U.K.

Mr Niladri Pal

As Adjunct Faculty, Mr. Pal will focus on bringing additional depth to the numerical content of the courses, as necessary, and will guide the students at various levels, in handling complex engineering theories and mathematical concepts. He will design the quizzes required for the purpose of addressing the examinations leading to the award of Certificates of Competency for Marine Engineering Officers. Mr. Niladri Pal is a graduate Naval Architect from the distinguished Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpore.

Mr Tamal Mukherjee

As Adjunct Faculty, Mr. Tamal Mukherjee will focus on the customization of the content and the quizzes for the purpose of adding depth to the learning process and will help the students get better prepared for internal tests conducted by ADU. Besides being a successful entrepreneur and a Chief Engineer, Mr. Mukherjee has a distinguished career in teaching including a long stint as a faculty member at the Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Kolkata. He is an alumnus of DMET and holds the First Class Certificate of Competency (Motor) from Ministry of Transport, Government of India.
